Confessions of A Peppermint Pattie Why I Really Am Black Enough Already, Y’all, is a wildly humorous, yet provocative collection of anecdotes and commentary, influenced by Donna's insanely funny family, experiences as a journalist, and distinctively Southern upbringing. It is a look at race in America from the perspective of a professional woman who's been told all her life she wasn't Black enough for attempting to simply be a well-rounded, successful human being. It is filled with interesting pop culture references, and stories about celebrities that Donna has encountered during her career, including the "best Peppermint Pattie advice" ever given to her by one of the most recognizable names on the planet. Though Donna chooses to tackle a very serious subject with humor, she also drops jewels of wisdom along the way. Confessions Of A Peppermint PattieWhy I Really Am Black Enough, Y'all, has been described as “delightful, jazzy and breezy.” But above all, it is honest. Donna tackles the kinds of things that perhaps aren’t said in mixed company, without fear. It is a call to arms for her race to do better, but it is also a bridge toward cultural understanding among the races, and ultimately, a celebration of individuality. Though written from the perspective of a Black woman in America, it is a book with something to offer everyone, especially, anyone in need of a good laugh. And through the telling of this tale, it's her journey to the realization that she, like many others, is valid, relevant, and enough. That she "Really Is Black Enough Already, Y'all."

Donna Davis is a great storyteller. I was hooked from the first page and Davis's description of twerking. Hilarious. But the story Davis tells about her life so far - its challenges and triumphs - is quite serious, too.Product details

Confessions Of A Peppermint Pattie Why I Really Am Black Enough Already Y'all edition by Donna Davis Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews
What a hilariously serious read! Thank you, Donna Davis. You really need to create an audio book version with you reading. THAT would be awesome! And, as much as I know that Rufus and Trey are very fortunate men, they also have my sympathy...
Can't wait for your next book, movie, or TV show.
If Chris Rock and Erma Bombeck had a baby, it would be Donna Davis.
“Confessions Of A Peppermint Pattie – Why I Really Am Black Enough Already, Y’all” chronicles a sophisticated African-American media personality as she navigates the landscape of suburban housewifery with her long-suffering husband, wise-beyond-his-years teenage son, and foofie designer dog.
Ms. Davis weaves stories from her past with present societal observations and hilarious life adventures into a delightful tapestry, sprinkled with enough colloquialisms and spicy language to keep it real!
Her thoughts on twerking and Grandma’s invention made me giggle. I delighted in her heritage as a Peppermint Pattie, the power of words and the best advice Oprah ever gave her, subsequently snorting milk out my nose over Fish grease, hair grease, whoo-doo and rasslin’.
Donna’s tales of Karaoke, snowboarding, good hair, and Memphis blues made me laugh out loud. Her candid recounts of Waterparks and pools, Weddings and Funerals, Absinthe and Champagne was hilarious. And all the while, she’s trying to make sense of it all in her new ‘normal’.
The takeaway from this entertaining slice of cultural sociology is simple we’re more alike than we’re different. That our values define us, our experiences give us depth. And sometimes, as in Donna Davis’ case – make us downright funny!
Read this book! (But in the privacy of your own home, so you can laugh as vociferously as you want to.)
I thought this book had a good message with funny side!
This is an Amazing Read! Easy, entertaining..enlightening....Check it out and see what I mean!.
Enjoyed the book. Confirmed many of my experiences. I laughed and nodded my head in either agreement or similarity with many of the stories. Makes one question the "call for diversity". If you aren't willing to accept differences within your own ethnic/racial group, ethically why demand it from others?
Ms. Davis, tell us more.
